Introduction
UNKEA is a National organization working in Nasir County of Upper Nile State.  UNKEA was founded in 2002 by a number of citizens of Upper Nile State, with the initial purpose of fighting the deadly disease Kala azar which affects people in Upper Nile.  UNKEA’s mandate has expanded to include basic services such as primary health care, water and sanitation, education, food security, social development of youth and women; economic development; and peace building.  UNKEA is registered with GOSS/SSRRC in Juba and with state authorities in Malakal, and works in association with UN agencies, international NGOs, local authorities and community groups.  UNKEA has offices in Juba, Malakal, Torit, Nasir, and Magwi

OBJECTIVES OF UNKEA
UNKEA aims to achieve the following objectives

  • To promote and facilitate health care services and education as a means of responding to the myriad health problems that confront the people, including HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases
  • To improve access of quality education to the communities, including early years education/early childhood development (ECD
  • To devise appropriate food-security programmes and promote, strengthen and support Community structures and capacities of staff and farmers to ensure food self-sufficiency
  • Working to address water and sanitation crises to ensure healthier and more productive people.
  • Working to strengthen the capacity of, and improve opportunities for, the youth to help them participate effectively in development
  • To promote peace full South Sudan where the communities are living in harmony
